Seasonal Racing Positions Available - Prairie Meadows (Iowa)

Prairie Meadows Racetrack in Altoona, Iowa has open seasonal positions in the Racing Dept. that may be of interest to you or someone you know within the horse racing industry. Our 2023 live racing season in Iowa begins on May 12, 2023 and continues through September 30, 2023 with 80 total race days on a Friday through Monday schedule. The following seasonal positions in Racing are available (as of 3/23/2023):
- OUTRIDER (Oversee safety of jockeys, exercise riders and horses on both tracks during training hours and live racing, help catch loose horses, help guide horses on/off tracks as needed, lead post parade and makes sure post parade reaches starting gate in a timely fashion)
- ASSISTANT CLOCKER (record timed workouts during morning training hours, electronically upload workout information to Equibase and InCompass system)
- STALL CLEANER (clean, maintain Receiving Barn & Test Barn stalls, help operate Horse Exerciser)
- JOCKEY ROOM VALET (saddling horses during live racing)
- TEST BARN PATH RIDER (escort horses from Main Track to Test Barn during live racing via pony horse)
- PROGRAM PRODUCTION COORDINATOR (in charge of producing the live program pages for each race card, produce the overnight list of entries, in-today and off races sheets, cycle preference dates, coordinate with print shop to send final program pages, knowledge of InCompass system preferred)
