The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) seeks FULL-TIME Examining Veterinarians to join the Veterinary team.
In this role of Examining Veterinarian, you will perform pre-race soundness exams, observe horses on track and provide emergency care. In addition, you will be responsible for rigorous testing (blood and hair sampling) as well as observe morning training to identify horses needing further scrutiny. The qualied candidate will work at all three NYRA tracks: Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens from November to April, Belmont Park in Elmont, NY from April to July and September and October, and Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, NY from mid July to Labor day. A generous travel stipend is provided for Saratoga NYRA looks for Veterinarians with solid ethics and a strong eye for lameness. The primary goal is to protect the health and welfare of the racehorse. Racetrack experience is preferred, but NOT required. Any internship or private practice experience is a plus, but new graduates with a strong interest in lameness will be strongly considered. Solid record keeping skills and the ability to learn racetrack software required. NYRA oers competitive base pay, plus bonus based on performance, PTO, student loan assistance, paid CE and CE stipend as well as medical/dental/vision and 401K benets. The regular work week is Wednesday to Sunday with some Monday holidays. There is NO on-call work and hours will vary depending on time of year. Licensure in NY or the ability to become licensed is a requirement.
