State Steward (Exempt Position)

The Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission is accepting applications for employment for State Steward. The Commission has a preference for a level I Steward that meets the experience requirements of Flat Racing Accreditation Level II. In addition, the applicant has at least five-year’s experience and 200 racing days as a Steward of a specific breed and all continuing education requirements are current. For the purpose of maintaining integrity and honesty in racing, the Commission shall prescribe by administrative regulation, the powers and duties of the persons employed to meet or exceed the qualifications necessary to competently perform these duties. In addition to any minimum qualifications promulgated by the Commission, the applicant must have strong writing and computer literate skills. Also some fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required. The applicant should have strong leadership and people skills.
All Commission Officials must meet regulatory requirements to obtain and maintain a Racing Official’s license.
Salary and medical benefit package are competitive with the Mid-Atlantic region. This position is not pension eligible and there is no paid leave.
