The Organization of Racing Investigators 2017 Training Conference is the must-attend event for professionals employed in the racing integrity sector. Whether you are an investigator, security officer, racing official or police officer the learning opportunities available the ORI conference cannot be found any where else.

Sunday February 26, 2017

  • Registration and welcome reception at Tampa Bay Downs in the VIP room. This will be a Jimmy Buffet Margaretville Theme 1800-2100 – hot and cold hors d’oeuvres and cash bar.

Monday February 27, 2017: First day of meetings & training

  • 0900 – Mrs. Stella Thayer will welcome everyone to Tampa Bay Downs Racetrack
  • 0915-1015 Mike Rodgers President, Racing Division for The Stronach Group - Integrity in Racing
  • 1015-1030 break
  • 1030-1100- Stacie Clark Rogers Operations consultant for the TAA, will be speaking about the Thoroughbred aftercare alliance and educate us the importance of this agency.
  • 1100-1115 – Break
  • 1115-1130 - TBA
  • 1130-noon- Steven Koch (Executive Director for the Safety and Integrity Alliance) will be speaking best practices for racing and racing security.
  • Noon -1pm LUNCH in the meeting room
  • 1300-1345- Jockeys’ Guild will be presenting information regarding the procedure for injuries and jockey concussion reporting system. Speaker TBA
  • 1400-1500 -Panel for discussion on Quarantine procedures in horse racing and best practices and SOP’s (Lance Morell, Leasa Johnston, Tom Sage)

Tuesday February 28, 2017: Second day of training:

  • 0900- 1300- Practical training taking place for Jockeys room searches and wanding sweeps, Trailer and vehicle searches, and hands on Barn searches. Attendees will be divided into 3 groups and will spend an hour at each training session. They will be involved in the actual searches and be shown what to look for and information share regarding the best practices will be discussed.
  • 1315-1415- Lunch
  • 1415-1515- DR. Dionne Benson will be discussing Vet searches, What’s trending, Tips on what to look for when you are conducting vet truck searches & and how to look up medications. A practical search of a vet truck will also take place.
  • 1530-1545- break
  • 1545- 1630- Russell Wallace from Bet Fair UK integrity manager
