Senior Director of Racing Operations - Canterbury Park

Partner with the President and CEO in the oversight of all operational and strategic issues related to live racing operations, simulcast operations and related departments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead by example.
Responsible for maintaining a high degree of hospitality, as well as a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
Creates high levels of morale, fosters teamwork, inspires collaboration, delegates effectively and coaches and mentors direct reports for growth opportunities.
Serves as the point person for Canterbury Park with the Minnesota Thoroughbred Association and all related activities with their leadership and membership.
Work in conjunction with Racing Operations Manager to plan, forecast and manage purse distribution schedules.
Serves as a liaison with the Minnesota Racing Commission, to include the racing stewards, office staff, and veterinary staff as it relates to live racing policies, procedures and the integrity of racing,
Work with team leaders to ensure compliance in all areas of responsibility, and assist in enforcing all Company policies and procedures.
Ensure the proper controls are in place to calculate and price Canterbury Park live racing pools while conforming to Minnesota statute and Minnesota Racing Commission rules.
Demonstrate a complete and thorough understanding of HISA, MN §240 and Minnesota’s Administrative Rules Chapter 7895 and their applicability to Live Racing Operations
Ensure that Canterbury Park is in full compliance with HISA and with the Minnesota Racing Commission (MRC) in regard to MN §240 and Minnesota’s Administrative Rules Chapter 7895.
Establish and oversee budget guidelines and P & L analysis for all Racing Operations under scope of authority.
Perform all other duties as assigned.

Supervision:
Racing Secretary, Manager of Racing Operations, Turf and Grounds Superintendent, and Stable Area Manager

Required Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Racing Operations Management
Ability to interact with guests, co-workers and horsemen in a professional manner.
Must be able to pass Canterbury Park’s pre-employment screening which includes a criminal background check and verification of work history.
Must be able to attain a Minnesota Racing Commission (MRC) license.

Preferred Qualifications:
Education in a Racetrack Management program and/or on the job experience that provides the training to satisfactorily complete these duties.
Previous customer service and horsemen relations experience.
Previous direct oversite over simulcast and pari-mutuel operations.
