Saratoga Race Course Examining Veterinarian

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) seeks an Examining Veterinarian to work the Saratoga race meet.  

The qualified Veterinarian should posses two years of experience in equine practice and must hold a DVM, VMD or equivalent degree.  Familiarity with thoroughbred racing industry protocols is a plus. The successful candidate must hold a current New York State Veterinary license, or have the ability to become licensed. This position requires being on site at Saratoga Race Course from July 14, 2021 to September 6, 2021.

The Examining Veterinarian will complete pre-race exams for horses scheduled to race and make recommendations to scratch a horse if unsound, injured or ill.  In addition, he/she shall assist with lasix administration and blood gas sampling.
