Director of Pari-Mutuels - Prairie Meadows

Job Description:

Responsible for the daily operations of the Racing Center, Simulcast, Pari-Mutuel & Television departments.  Oversees the Advance Deposit Wagering (ADW) function.  Develops & directs strategic short/long term goals in driving growth of market share & revenues for simulcast & pari-mutuel gaming.  Assists in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of personnel.  Assists with the negotiation of contracts with pari-mutuel and other various contracts.  Works directly with department managers in establishing and maintaining  budgets.  Assists in the administration and management of operational goals and monitors achievement of performance and profit objectives.  Directly responsible for developing a comprehensive analysis plan and preparing monthly analyses for key indicators on sales through the Racing Center and Pari-Mutuels.  Assists with creating effective and efficient schedules while maintaining labor costs, meeting staffing objectives, and achieving guest satisfaction.  Coordinates with other involved internal departments to ensure understanding and cooperative execution of the Racing/Pari-mutuel plan.  Conducts performance reviews & mentors department management.  Directly responsible for the planning and execution of special projects as assigned by the Vice President of Racing.

Job Requirements:

High school diploma required.  College degree in related field preferred.  Two years’ plus experience in the racing industry required.  Prefer three to five years management experience.  Thorough understanding of racehorse industry, pari-mutuel terminology & advance deposit wagering (ADW).  Ability to communicate and interact verbally and in writing with people of diverse backgrounds.  Experience in a compliance and regulatory function. Proficient in Microsoft Suite (word, excel, outlook, etc.).  Working knowledge of budgeting processes, profit & loss statements. Must be able to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment with confidence in making quick decisions.  Highly motivated and comfortable working with the public. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
